Bridge Rd Brew 500 aka Smoked Breakfast Lager
Bridge Road Brewers have come a long way since being established in 2005 in Beechworth. This year is the brewery’s 6th year in production, and we have just com- pleted the brewing of our 500th batch of beer.
We pride ourselves on developing new and challenging beers, both for our customers and for ourselves. However our 500th brew has given us the opportunity to really get creative.
Breakfast is a big part of our day at the brewery, and it gives the brewing team a chance to sit down and discuss the day and week ahead. So we decided to celebrate our love of breakfast and this milestone together we have created a breakfast lager.
We have included some of our favourite breakfast foods into the mash of this brew. To achieve a character that represents bacon and its smokey flavour, we included a big proportion of German Smoked Malt. We then set about adding a 20kg bag of Car- men's Muesli (generously donated by Carmen), Zoi Coffee, Tetley Tea leaves, Raison Toast, Beechworth Honey and some Canadian Maple Syrup.
The result is exactly what we were after, a smokey breakfasty lager! Quite a dark beer in appearance, it has a deep red hue, and smells of smokey bacon and coffee. The pallet also show strong roast and smoke characters but an overall smoothness from the rolled oats in the muesli.
Could this be the ultimate breakfast beverage?
